12 Intimate Valentine’s Day Setup on a Budget

In this post, I will be sharing some Intimate Valentine’s Day Setup on a Budget.

But first, we know that celebrating love does not have to be on just one specific day, everyday can be Valentine’s Day. You just need to be intentional about showing up for your partner in the simplest ways.

You want to make Valentine’s Day a little more special and intimate without breaking the bank? Let’s talk.

Most times, my husband and I prefer the cozy quietness of our home, with a simple homemade meal and our favourite nostalgic playlist, which gives us room to talk and reminisce.

So here are my little tips for an Intimate Valentine’s Day Setup on a Budget, if you would prefer to stay at home this year.

1. No Kids Allowed

Always remember that before your child or children came on board, it was just the two of you. So, we can do away with those little cute ruffians for one night. If your parents are close, ship them off to Grandma and Grandpa for the night, but thinking about it, Grandma and Grandpa might have plans too.

So make plans early for  friends or relatives that are free to babysit to take your kids for the night so you can have the house to yourself.

2. DIY Valentine’s Day Decoration

It does not have to be perfect, something as simple as a heart design with fairy lights on your wall can make a difference.

You can set up your tables with a cute red cozy table cloth, with candles.

Cut out heart shapes with red or white paper, or just hang up cute heart ballons and pictures to spark up memories.

You could also setup your living room area with cozy blankets and pillows, and have your initimate dinner right there on the floor.

Use what you have at home.

3. Light Up Candles (candle lit dinner setting) or Living Room Cinema

It all depends on the vibe you are going for, do you want a cozy dinner setup, by all means light up the candles, set up the table with intimate decorations.

Or  Set up a living room cinema with fairy lights, cozy blankets and pillows for a romantic film night, pick a movie you both want to see, elevate it with homemade popcorns or have your dinner right there.

Nothing sets the moods more than candlelight, so regardless of the vibe you are going for light up those candles.

4. Soft Lightening and Soft Music

There is something so cozy about soft lights, that are not too sharp, it create some form of warmth and peace, so turn off those bright lights and leave just the candle on, or the side lamps to give that cozy feeling.

Then play your favourite romantic playlist. My husband has a playlist that he always plays when we were courting, anytime he plays it now or anytime i hear one of the songs somewhere, i get this nostalgic feeling and it takes me down memory lane.

So soft music has a way of making the heart happy and warm.

5. Homemade Intimate Dinner or Just Order Take Out

If you both feel up to it  prepare a homemade meal together. Choose a recipe that you both love, or something you both want to try and get cooking.

Cooking together can be a fun and intimate experience, and you’ll enjoy a delicious meal at a fraction of the cost.

Or if you dont want to stress, since we are already cutting cost in other ways, order a take out dinner from a place you both love, and splurg a little bit, relieve yourself from the stress of having to cook. Like i said it just depends on what you like.

6. Dress Up: Be Intentional about your looks

Yes please dress up, or you can even turn it into a themed night by dressing in comfy pajamas or better still, dress up in that beautiful dress or that crisp shirt and well tailored pants.

Take care of your hair, your skin, wear good unforgettable fragrance, make your partner wonder, dont just do the regular dregular, switch things up baby.

7. Hand Written Notes (Reasons why I love you Jar)

Just recently a friend of mind Ahnie (click here to shop from her) introduced me to this, and its a total game changer, its simple but very intentional.
You DIY this at home, just get a small jar with a lid and decorate it minimaly, then cut out tiny papers and write out reasons why you love your partner.

Put them the ine jar and maybe you can read it out to each other, try this and thank me later.

8. Give Well Thought Out Gifts

Regardless of whether your partners love language is receiving gifts or not, there is no one that does not appreciate a well thought out gift.

Always pay attention to your partners bucket list, yeah! they might mention needing something in passing, note that down and surprise him or her with it and see the wonders that will  work.

The gifts doesnt have to be expensive, just be intentional and pay attention to what your other half really needs. In my case i love books and money, and anytime my husband gets me a book or gives me money(no matter how little), i get so happy like a little girl in a candy store.

9. DIY Home Spa

You can both create a simple diy home spa with simple household items, remember we already set up our space to be cozy and candle lit, and soothing music with soft light, so proceed to give each other gentle massages.

You can make homemade face masks using natural ingredients like avocado, yogurt, or honey, or enjoy a warm bubble bath together.  (Not for singles please, married people only).

10. Indoor Couple Games

It doesnt have to be just mushy mushy you know what i mean, you can play fun couples trivia games, like creating  questions about your relationship and about each other, and answer them,

or an indoor scavenger hunt with love notes and little gift for anyone who finds it first.

11. Most Important Point : TALK

This has to be the most important point to me, communication is key in every relationship, this is the time to really talk, about any and everything, what is bothering you, what you are unhappy about.

Find out if you are both loving each other rightly, talk about the little things.

Then reminsce on how you both started, go down down the memory lane, remember why you both fell in love in the first place.

Talk about who said i love you first, where you had your first kiss, and your first date.

Reminiscing about special moments can deepen your bond and remind you how far you’ve come together, and helps you appreciate the love you both share.

12. Dance! Dance! and Cuddle

Close your eyes, hold one another and dance to the rhythm of that soothing playlist you have on, there is something it does to the heart that i cant put into words you just have to experience it yourself.

Then cuddle and keep talking, if it leads to something else its all good, but make sure you are protected, if not by october you will reaping the friut of your 9 months labor (Again not for single pringles).

PS: these tips are for married couples please, save this post for when you get married if you are a single pringle

Final Tip

Love shouldnt really be celebrated on just Valentine’s Day, make a concious effort to show love to your partner everyday, also because its Valentine it doesnt have to be over engineered or perfect,

its about intentionality and creating beautiful memories that will stay with you both forever. The most cherished moments come from genuine connection, intentionality, thoughtfulness, and quality time together. The most important thing is that your partner feels seen, loved and appreciated. I hope these tips for an Intimate Valentine’s Day Setup on a Budget helps.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

With love
